Lunch at the Library: 12-1pm
The school district provides lunch pick-ups for students and families throughout summer recess. Families will be invited to enjoy their lunches in the library. Various passive activities such as coloring sheets, word searches, and cut and glue crafts will be available each day. Families may check out books.

Family Storytime & Craft: Tuesdays, 11am-12pm
An all ages storytime with a simple craft.

Build It!: Tuesdays, 1-3 pm
A variety of puzzles, LEGOS, and building blocks will be available for use in the library.

Kick-Off Event: Monday, July 6
Students and their families are invited to spend the afternoon to Kick-Off the Summer Reading Program.
Families may enjoy lunch in the library and then head out to the fields for bounce houses and waterslides or to play on the playground. Sidewalk chalk and bubbles will also be available. Popsicles will be served.
Each student will receive a drawstring backpack which will contain a calendar of program events, a Summer Reading Challenge Activity Tracker sheet, a bookmark, and a pencil. Students will select their choice of a free book.

Geometric Art: Wednesday, July 15
Students and families are invited to create geometric art using shape stencils and watercolor paints. Students will trace over-lapping shapes onto their watercolor paper using pencils and then fill in the spaces with color. Finally, the students will trace the pencil lines with black markers

– Marketing & Promotion –
Flyers promoting the Summer Reading Program will begin going home with students in May. Flyers will be posted to all common areas, bathrooms, classrooms, in the cafeteria, and main office. Flyers will also be posted on school social media and communications platforms. Teachers will communicate about the opportunity to their students’ families via ClassDoJo.
In June, the librarian will host two virtual information sessions to introduce the Summer Reading Program to families.
– Staffing & Support –
This program will be supported by the Teachers of Tomorrow Club from the local high school. These are high school students interested in entering the teaching profession. The Teachers of Tomorrow members and mentors will serve as volunteer staff for the Summer Reading Program.
