Statement of
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

This programming plan was created with intention to exemplify diversity, equity, and inclusion in library programming and services to children. I am committed to the advancement of equity and diversity, and advocate for inclusivity and belonging. I strive to further my knowledge and understanding of marginalized communities, social injustices and inequalities, and systems of power and privilege to provide excellent library services to all.

 

I have made a conscious effort to select literature featuring diverse authors, perspectives, voices, characters, and settings. The intention is for students to see themselves reflected in the books they read, and for students to develop empathy and understanding through exposure to ideas and experiences that are different from their own. 

Programming has been developed to be welcoming to all students. Although all efforts have been made in program development to be inclusive and provide accessibility, certain circumstances and student needs may require that programs be modified.
